Hi Leo,
Security issues aside, try the demo of this software first! I couldn't get it
to use anything but a modem on a standard IRQ, and then when I got over this
hurdle, found that the 'client' PC kept locking up. In the end, I gave up. By
the way, ModemShare only allows you to share the modem - i.e. one PC logged
onto the 'Net at any one time. If you want simultaneous access to the 'Net
from a number of PCs, then you need the other product from Artisoft (name
escapes me at the moment), that I know nothing about. Regarding security and
your clinical system - speak to Chris McGarry at EMIS about this - he
'frightened the pants of me' - and that was discussing an NHSNet connection.
When we get our 'Code of Connection' sorted (Operative word here being WHEN -
now being trying to sort things since November), we will be using a Router
with a built-in firewall.
