David - or anyone else who's just read the literature -
my diagnostic system for vertigo if TMs etc normal is
either :
*BPV*
1: gets paroxysmal vertigo for <minute or so AND
2: negative unterberger test ( ie march on spot with eyes closed without
going round in circles)
OR
*vestibular disorder* (guess whether it's vascular, viral, meniere's or
whatever)
1: vertigo ( or "dizziness") AND
2: positive unterberger
OR
simple dizziness / VBI / not worth ENT or serc
1: dizziness not vertigo AND
2: negative unterberger
Is this too simplistic - would be a shame if it was 'cos it seems to work
and I still spotted an accoustic neuroma once.
