Oh come on, David. I *am* in your defence union, not that it matters I
hope, but I feel you are opening Pandora's box and finding a can of worms
and sundry other metaphors.
While I do agree with your sentiments in this case, we pay defence subs
to avoid being bankrupted by sins of comission *and* omission. To be
charitable to the doctors concerned, I don't suppose they were
deliberately trying to kill children. They may have had over-inflated
views on their own competence, but they were not trying to make a quick
buck for themselves, as far as I know. We have all, I am sure, made
mistakes, and possibly glaring ones in the light of retrospection. This
is *why* we pay subs in the first place.
Do you want the MPS to decide that your mistake (heaven forbid) was or
was not deserving of cover?
