Following the same argument .......
We can't make vitamin C. Therefore we must have evolved from vegetables.

Subject: Why should fish oil be useful?
The theory that at a crucial stage of our evolution our ancestors lived
on the strand is not proved, but seems convincing.
So as well as accounting for our upright posture and mop of hair on
top, our diving reflex and our senstive fingers it might be that having
a period of many generations without selective pressure against the
inability to make the useful things in fish oils has left us with this
defficiency.
In which case a population based change in diet mediated politically
would seem to be more sensible than arguments over prescribability of
supplements, or indeed specialists advising individuals to take fish
oil. The responsibility would move from the Dept of Health to the Food
Ministry - which we need.
