I have had a similar experience in time and effort terms - although
making good progress - helped by the fact that our NHSnet connection
will be linking Lotus Notes messaging which we have within the surgery
and now rolled out to 15 local practices.
Once we have our link these practices will have X400 connections to
NHSnet. Our EMIS system is not linked in any physical way to out
Windows network which has also made it easier - when we connect to
NHSnet there is no way our medical system could be compromised and
similarly the NHSnet security standards are satisfied
<< Trefor said :I too would be most interested. I am trying to get a
connection myself. So far it has taken a couple of months, a practice
visit, many different forms with up to three signatures on each, forms
sent back for extra signatures and extra details. I have still not got
very far. Many of those involved at the HA and NHS telecommunications
have commented on the inordinate complexity and the impossibility of
rolling out the process to many practices. >>
