Having had the problem of the startup disk from Win95 not recognising
the oboard CD rom, although when booting from the hard disk it did, I've
got round the issue as follows:
1. Create the startup disk in the normal Win95 manner i.e.
Control panel ----> add/remove prgrams -----> startup disk
2. Edit the config.sys on the startup disk to include a line such as
DEVICE=a:\NEC_IDE.SYS /D:MSCD001
where nec_ide.sys is the device driver for your CD rom which you should
be able to find on the disk you got with the CD.
3. Edit the autoexec.bat on the startup disk to include a line such as
a:\MSCDEX /D:MSCD001
4. Copy on to the start up disk the appropriate 'sys' file for the CD
rom (see point 2 above) and mscdex.exe from the hard disk.
This should create a bootable Win95 start disk which will see your CD in
addition to seeing the hard disk.
