Actually, there is a 2GB limit in Windows/DOS, for a single partition. So,
you would have to partition the new drive as two drives, eg 2GB and 500MB.
If your new disk is larger thgan your old one, then it is probably faster as
well, and you would be better off swapping the disks about, so that the new
drive is drive C&D, the old drive is drive E, and the CD-ROM is drive F.
*BUT* this is not a simple procedure, and could entail you reinstalling all
your software again (This might not be such a bad thing, as you can end up
with a lot of unwanted files on the hard disk over time). There may also be
jumpers that need changing on the drives. Also, you should ensure that
neither drive shares a cable with the CDROM drive, as this will slow the
hard disk dramatically.
A brilliant piece of software called Partition Magic can actually help with
some of the above - it's not cheap (circa UKP45) but can save enormous
amounts of time when in stalling new drives or changing their partitions.
