On an open list, I'm not sure a ban could be implelented. You would also
need to ban attachments, which are much more likely to carry viruses.
The best policy is to use a good antivirus package.
To put it into perspective (touch wood) in fourteen years of e-mail, BBS and
internet use, I have yet to come across a virus - mainly because I am
reasonably circumspect.
