We have been paying £63 for 2 hours booked at 8 minute intervals;
There are, even so, differences between locums (loci?) - one is fully
aquainted with the computer system(perhaps more so than some of us),
writes concise notes and the patients liked him too (not sure whether
that's an advantage or not!); another we use is one of "the old sort"
- few notes, fewer prescriptions, but the secretary has to type up the
notes afterwards; then some don't like being on call or doing visits...
On the whole, there seems to be such a shortage of any locums that we
have to take who we can get, and more often than not we end up covering
for each other with all sorts of convoluted arrangements.
One locum we had a while back asked for more money after we had paid
it/him/her (to keep anonymity) - I was so stunned I paid the extra!
