Have you never had to employ a community nurse, midwife, or health visitor? When was the last time that free market forces allowed you to shortlist (let alone appoint) the candidate of your choice, without the 'powers that be' telling you that buggins from the practice up the road didn't fit in and had to be given a chance?
Na, mate, this is the NHS!!
