Outlook 98 available free from PC Pro, install and then use Net folders (add
in component) to establish your closed news group. This has to be the
cheapest way to establish a small newsgroup. We are using it at work for a
discussion group on System 6000. You can set permissions editor,
contributor, author and reviewer. Read this on the best site for electronic
interchange.

Subject: LMC and electronic communications
Our local LMC (Lincolnshire) has asked for some suggestions as to how we
could harness the power of the Internet to improve communications between
members of the LMC, currently scattered across a large rural county.
Ideas I am considering include
1) Private or public web pages for display of agendas and minutes of
meetings
2) private e-mail discussion list (similar to GP-UK, but closed) for
discussion and circulation of documents
3) Dial-up Internet accounts for LMC members, which need to be cheap and
user friendly
One obvious problem is how much the LMC can be expected to fund the
hardware/software needed to involve all LMC members. Members could be
divided into 3 categories
1) Those with existing Internet connections
2) Those with stand alone PCs and home or at work, but no current Internet
Connection
3) Those with no PC suitable for Internet access
I have no idea how we could obtain funds to kit out all LMC members with
suitable hardware/software, or pay for ISP connection charges. Neither do I
know how much we should re-imburse those who already have Internet
connection for telephone/connection charges.
Have any GP-Ukers had any experience of this, with LMC or other groups?
Ideas, suggestions and examples welcome (please!!!!)
