I have refused all requests but usually submit the briefest statement in
writing about the persons fitness to hold a licence. I then give them the
standard BMA letter of refusal unless you pay a reasonable fee. Im sure we
should continue to be difficult. However in this case I suggest life is
simply too short.

Has anyone else had the pleasure of being threatened by the DVLA for
refusing to produce reports? They are about to subpoena me in order to get
release of the medical record of one of my patients who has a drink problem
and should not be driving. I simply confirmed by telephone that they had
taken the right action in revoking the licence, but that I would not be
completing any report unless they paid the BMA fee. Any advice please? Its
tempting to give in, but this will not help the fee struggle!
