When I was involved many years ago in a number of paternity suits
(professionally , of course) the blood tests could only rule out not
rule in. I think that has improved, but no doubt expensive.
If he is prepared to accept his responsibilities if his paternity can be
established, then the answer is to forget the courts and just obtain the
mother's agreement to blood tests. There's no cheaper way than the
tests,other than, I suppose, to see if it looks like him!
Of course, however, he ought to obtain legal advice anyway as to the
amount of his maintenance payments.
