>Jebel Tarik is referred to in Samuel Delany's novel "Babel 17">>
<<The book is good, but I failed to appreciate it adequately on first
reading it.<
Yeah that's the problem with Delany, I read some of his stuff at school
and thought he was crap. Now I actually understand the ENglish language a
bit better, not to mention the structure of narrative etc, I see what he
was at. Anyone read the autobiog of his early years--The Motion of Light
on Water?----a bit like his fiction, lodges inside and pops up into your
consciousness at odd times. There is also a great "essay" on markets in
fantasy writing included in that volume. No not internal markets, rather
the open place where people went to buy and sell in a society with little
or no money/exhange/treasury etc. It is quite educational.
anyone read the new Gibson?
Declan
