The Afternoon Surgery
Replete with lunch
She ambled in, sat down
and sighed,
"I don't eat much really"
I heard her say.
I sighed
inwardly, and smiled
"What's bothering you?"
I opened the gate
and tears filled her eyes
"I can't sleep"
and the floodgates gave way.
While she cried I saw
The world, her home,
No longer in her control,
A large woman, I saw
it all, her crying soul.
Once young and small
A child in laughter
She ran and played;
Now old and large
Reflecting in sadness
In dreams she runs and plays
Still.
"I don't eat much really"
I heard her say again,
In those moments, I saw
Eveything her way.
This time with no apologies, an original.
