This scenario suggests to me that chest infection might not have been
the diagnosis, or that the daughter thought it might not have been, and
the diagnosis I would entertain in similar circumstances (which
admittedly have never included the patient being brought in in such
fashion...) would be that she had stopped taking her diuretic.
And not wanted to admit it, and daughter not wanted to accuse her, but
to give the doctor a clue...
Pure supposition of course.
