Paul is right. I would suggest that
clinical data passing across any network which is not physically
contained in a single building with restrictions on access to
equipment connected to the network (eg a GP practice, or a single
hopsital department) should be encrypted.
The point of my original posting was to emphasise that this
encryption is not a function of the network, but of the applications
that are linked by the network.
