Yesterday at a BMA Division meeting with the Chartered institute of
environmental health officers and with the Royal COllege of Nursing in
Exeter there were two different slants on the matter of sharing data,
with a public health doctor from the HA (who gave a very polished run
through of the Green Paper) rather pushing the centralisation of data
and with me saying "actually it is better to keep it on the GP system
computer and transmit a MIQUEST query which returns the _numbers_ that
you are trying to get".
It went down well, I thought.
The suspicion must arise if people want to collect the whole data
before coming to a conclusion that they may be deciding how to analyse
it after they see it rather than before, which seems less scientific to
me.
And at today's LMC meeting the subject of admindroid access to patient
records for claim checking came up and the HA got the message that this
is not regarded with favour.
