Last patient of the morning walks in and tells me that
she has been tested (Vega testing???) and that the mercury
from her fillings is leaking into her body and poisoning
her. She had approached a number of dentists but had been
told that she could only have her fillings removed with
a letter from her GP.
Erk!
I explained that, sadly, my experience of mercury poisoning
from fillings was limited and that I did not feel in a position
to offer an opinion.
Perhaps it is all the metalwork in my mouth which prevents
me from performing my duties as a GP to the full extent
of the expectations of my patients.
She wanted to know if I would test her urine and blood
for mercury. I said I would ask the local laboratory
for help.
Any GP-UKers out there with experience of this kind of
problem?
