I agree with a lot of your sentiments but I am afraid that your ideas
will not carry much support. Look at the way Sachit Shah gets slated by
British GPs on GP-UK on his "American views". The trouble is that
British GPs are just moaners and the profession as a whole do not have
the stomach to stand up against the authorities. What the successive
goverments have done is eroded the goodwill and authority of the
profession but still not angered GPs sufficiently for enough of us to
fight back. We are too fragmented and disorganised to do anything
effective. I suspect that PCGs will be up and running for a few years
before the Government will put the real squeeze on resources and then,
hopefully, that might galvanise more GPs into thinking like you. Only
then will the real public debate about resourcing and shaping the NHS
take place.
