Subject: The Destruction of the NHS
Frank Dobson came down like the wolf on a fold,
And his cohorts were gleaming in purple and gold;
With the shine on white paper,now everyone saw,
The future GP like never before.
Like the leaves of the forest when Summer is green,
The past looked so rosy now Dobson had been;
Like the leaves of the forest when Autumn hath blown
The windows were opened and everything thrown.
For the Angel of Death spread his wings on the blast,
Everyone sat there and longed for the past;
But the GMSC was listening no more
And everyone wondered just what were they for?
And there stood the health centres, surgeries packed,
Not a single GP, for all of them cracked;
And the gleam of the managers, they'd fought hard indeed
They hadn't yet realised the doctors had fleed.
And there sat the patients, dishevelled and spent
Why, this was the health centre where everyone went
They wouldn't wait long, that much they knew
If they did they'd complain, no matter who to.
And the families of GPs were loud in their wail
How could it have happened, the NHS fail?
And the might of the government, unhurt by the fight
Sat back in their seats, for they knew they were right!
with apologies to Lord Byron.
