It is irritating when we HAVE to phone to get an admission accepted, but
they do not see it as common courtesy to phone back if the patient dies
-as happened to me a couple of months ago - I am still picking up the
pieces from / of the patients wife, not so much because he died but
because I did not contact her - I was unaware of his demise until 2
weeks afterwards, when he had died the day I sent him in,
Yes, ideally we should follow up admissions ourselves, but honestly
there is not the time to do so with all of them.
