I was asked today directly by the Primary Care Director if I would
change my mind and agree to join the Group that is forming.
She also asked what would she say to the powers on the 9th Floor when
she reports to them: "can I say that *all* Practices in the area embrace
PCGs and will be forming into one?".
These questions were put to me after a heavy session of attempted
persuasion and subtle pressure by 3 of them!
My answers to the 2 questions was an unequivocal NO.
A lot of people have been telling me stuff about being on the 'inside',
'working from within', 'might as well', 'try to influence the process,
etc.etc.
My opposition remains. It is expressed in terms of: I do not give my
consent.
That will probably mean that they will have to 'force' to join a group.
I'll still *withhold my consent'.
I shall declare my inability to recognise the legitimacy of the Group or
my forced membership of it. That means that I shan't vote on any thing
either. If I do, then I am implicitly imparting legitimacy on something
that I do not recognise.
It is rather like Gerry Adams refusing to take up his seat in Parliament.
When it comes to purity vs expediency, I shall chose the former.
