Did you see 'Compass' a programme on the NHS with the title of 'bye bye
Beveridge' on Monday night 7.30pm BBC2? It explained how 'rationing' had crept
into the NHS without formal consultation and showed examples.ie the variation
in IVF availability by the NHS over the country, the refusal by some Health
authorities to prescribe expensive drugs such as taxol and beta interferon as
well as the phasing out of the cost of care of the elderly. I was stunned when
a Consultant Physician said quite bluntly that the life of a 'younger' person
was worth more than an older person and that NHS money should be spent
preferentially on the young and more able bodied?
Well, what do you think?
