MEDNET 98, the World Congress of the Internet in Medicine, is an
international
meeting which aims to bring together researchers, developers and users
involved
in the application of the Internet in Medicine. The Congress, which will
provide a forum for the exploration of the rapidly developing relationship
between medical sciences and the Internet, is relevant to all medical and
healthcare professionals, as well as those involved in the development and
application of the new technological opportunities offered to the medical
field
by the Internet and through the use of the World Wide Web. The programme will
include teaching workshops at both introductory and advanced levels.
MEDNET 98 follows on from the successful MEDNET 96 and MEDNET 97, both held
in
Brighton, UK, which were attended by a large international multi-disciplinary
group of delegates.
The Congress language will be English.
Topics:
-------
MEDNET 98 will be focusing on the twin themes of Evidence-Based Healthcare
and Interlinking Medical Information Sources, as well as topics of more
general interest.
On the theme of Evidence-Based Healthcare, papers are invited on the
following topics:
Clinical Information Management
Networked Computer-based Patient Records
The Internet and Primary Healthcare
Internet Standards and Policies
Health Information Networks
Application systems for Evidence-Based Healthcare
Digital libraries programmes, national networking initiatives and commercial
publishers have all contributed to the range of new information technologies
and products now available to medical research, practice and education. The
challenge facing both information seekers and providers is to bring together
these disparate sources and existing print and electronic media into a single
environment for intergated access. Papers are invited on any aspect of
creation
of hybrid libraries, simultaneous access to traditional and new information
sources, interlinking between databases, one-stop/multiple-source information
environments and related topics.
Presentations are also invited on general applications of the internet and
intranet in medicine, including the following topics:
Medical Intranets
Clinical Applications of the Internet
Hospital Information Management
Healthcare Education and Training
The Internet and Health Promotion
Internet and System Security
The Internet and the Developing World
Medical Imaging
System Design (User Interfaces, etc)
