At the RCGP meeting, just up the road from here today, there is a
large exhibition.
One of the exhibitors is Reuters, who along with various others have
on show their products in order to demonstrate what they offer to
GPs.
Vamp Medical is on offer,
Vamp ViSion is on offer
Vamp Mail is on offer (actually quite a good bit of kit)
Surgery Manager cannot even be seen by asking what is behind the
counter.
This sits poorly with the categorical assurances Reuters have given
to certain Health Authorities and other organisations that SM will
be supported, developed and taken through RFA4 and the millenium.
(The latter requiring the editing of a line in the source code, or
so one of the authors informs us)
ViSion and Medical have passed RFA4 accreditation, although ViSion
is technically out of compliance in respect of one part of the
contract with users, and I gather the fees remain to be paid on
Medical before the certificate will actually be issued or its name
added to the FHSCU website list of passes.
No appointment has been set for SM accreditation.
The User Group AGM is on 29 May 98 and it seems likely RHI will
announce their intentions some time after that.
