I much prefer the salad bowl to the melting pot.
In the salad bowl, each leaf and each ingredient keep their own
distinct flavour, yet the whole serves the palate with a symphony of
tastes.
In the melting pot, all the ingredients get mashed up and stewed to
produce a brown casserole (yuk!)

I think you missed the point. At a time when we should be talking, for
example, about what to do about inner city areas where shortly there
will be no GPs at all, we seem to be obssessed with all the 'power
suit' talk. I read in the comics about those jostling for position
already discussing salaries etc.
