But if we all become Level 4 Trusts those barriers will surely come
tumbling down won't they?! Isn't that the Government's idea - pour us all
into a common pot and somehow out of the medley create a more cohesive,
patient centred service?!
This could be the opportunity to base services on patient need rather than
what happens to be available on an adhoc basis. We could seize the
opportunity to abolish professional sectarianism.
But I do empathise with the loss of freedom of choice and I hope the
setting of clinical standards won't be as rigid as in Education, otherwise
innovations will be lost and health professionals will become as
disillusioned as teachers :-(

If rationing is an issue for PCGs then why not CEO's salary? How about
performance related pay linked to quality of patient services?
