I too am talking about the governing board! This raises the issue of what
skills are needed at board level in terms of cross professional input. I
doubt whether it will be approached that way! Much will depend on how
edicts are interpreted at local level but if you don't want the PCG to be
totally management based then clinicians need to be included. The
employer/employee divide needn't be a barrier if there is a strong sense of
team. (Pie in the sky :-)

I think this varies across the country. In some areas there are strong
practice nurse groups. We are fortunate in our locality to be able to
collaborate closely with other practices. This has been facilitated through
the structure of the multifund.
I have been contacted by a few practice nurses who are already involved in
commissioning groups or multifunds who are looking to be involved in PCGs
at strategic level. We are already putting together an outline of what
skills we would be looking for in nurse represenation.
