General answer, yes. Most hospitals and particularly ITU/OTs are aware
of the potential problems assoc with mobile phones and have notices up.
However, who is most likely to have mobile phone? Consultant
surgeons... so many are left on for that private referral case!
I'm not aware of any problems actually arising in this country.
In passing, I was filling up whilst on duty at a petrol station. The
petrol suddenly stopped and the attendant came running out to tell me
that they couldn't let me continue due to the fire risk of having mobile
phone in my pocket!!! Had to choose between unavailable due to phone
turned off or unavailable due to run out of petrol!!
