I think different names are chosen by the manufacturers to sell the same
drug in different countries at whatever price the government or public will
pay, and to discourage parallell importing from a cheaper source. I have a
fascinating copy of CIMS, the Indian version of MIMS, some multinational
companies sell some drugs there for 10% of the UK cost. They also sell many
drugs they would not sell in the UK too, but that's another story.
