<<And if they've nothing to hide, why would an employee get upset about a
drug
screen? Beats me:-) >>
The assumption of guilt, is all. The assumption of guilt rather than the
assumption of innocence---and this isn't even court we're talking about
here. How about innocent until proven guilty? How about natural justice?
And specificaly, the assumption that the employee is abusing drugs until
proven otherwise. I really don't think I can discuss this rationally---your
views and mine are about ten universes apart. Suffice it to say that I
have seen enough corporate paranoia/ big brother stuff to last me a few
lifetimes and you know the worst thing of all about it? Treating the
employee as a scumbag who has to be watched carefully to keep him/her away
from drugs etc just does not work in my experience. If you treat them as
scumbags then they tend to behave like scumbags. If you treat them with
trust and respect then they tend to work to make themselves worthy of
aforesaid trust and respect.
gauleiters? German I think, I think it means the totalitarian foreman
