Subject: Drug screens
<<A patient (accountant) told me that he was obliged to have annual blood
tests
carried out by his firm to screen for alcohol and drug abuse. Somewhat
intrusive and ???ethical. Thoughts on this???>>
Railtrack now expect anyone working on tree felling on the track to have a
drug screen. I have referred the company concerned to the local private lab.
However as the company or even the individual is paying there is room for
them to keep going back until it is negative! I felt it easier to keep out
of the way.
However Railtrack also want a normal audiogram so that they tree cutters
can hear the trains coming.......trouble is that another Health & Safety reg
says they have to wear ear protectors all the time that they are using chain
saws, so even if they had normal hearing and could hear over the noise of
the saws the ear protectors tend to make things difficult. - and we think
the NHS regulations are crazy!
