In this months Br J Sports Medicine, 1998, 32:34-38, "it is concluded that
running off-road elicits a heart rate response that varies with the altering
demands of surface, vegetation and gradient."
i.e. running uphill through gorse makes your heart beat faster than running
downhill on road. Gor, blimey!, isn't modern medical science wonderful.
