i really respect a lot of what you say and do. However I have to agree
with Ahmad on this one. I am sure we as a profession will pull through
and the quailty of service to the patient won't change much - has it
since 1990? However the cost in human terms will be greater than the
the 1990 changes. In these changes I have fewer choices and more
responsibilty for less money. This new order will set dr against dr.
In the old order I was against fundholding -that was a political
objection but i didn't have to do it and i was able to work with my
colleagues for the locality good.
Now the activities of the new order are so complex. Some of my
colleagues want to get to level 4 asap. THat will mean somone else's
effort or lack of effort will affect my take home pay. Reminds me a bit
of being junior hosp dr. Everyone else is on shifts while you're the
poor idiot who worked 24/48/72 hr shifts. All the other players will
have salaries but our pay will be 'performance related' what kind of a
performance will you get when you herd animals who are by nature
individualistic?
The govrenment should come clean make us all salaried and be done with
it- trouble is they couldn't aafors to pay us!
Ahmad you may ask why if i think like this i don't join dFI. i am sorry
to say that i am not sure this is a resignation issue yet though i am
thinking about it. when i feel it is a resignation issue i will join
you. I am still watching, protesting and being an active observer.

Oh bollocks, Ahmad. There was nearly a total meltdown over the 1990
reforms
> with a threat of widespread resignations, partnership splits, practices
> which didn't speak to each other for years and now no-one remembers it!
