Cash Prizes for Best Paper/Poster Award Program - Up to $15,000 (Canadian
funds) will be paid to authors of selected poster(s) or free paper(s)
demonstrating innovation and excellence in research activities. Your paper
or poster should address one of three themes of the congress:
WAD - Traffic Safety & Engineering ($5,000)
WAD - Insurance and Disability ($5,000)
WAD - Diagnosis & Treatment ($5,000)
The winners will be selected by a blind review process. Competition is
limited to those authors who have submitted their abstract(s) and
registration fee(s) by June 1, 1998. Award program sponsored courtesy of
the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia.
Student/New Investigator Best Paper/Poster Award Program - Up to $3,000
($1,000 per stream) will be awarded to selected student/new investigators
for best paper or poster. New investigator refers to graduate students
engaged research projects or new investigators within one year of
graduation. Deadline for submission October 1, 1998.
Abstract Themes:
Insurance and Disability - community intervention, early intervention, case
management, disability adjudication, compensation, cost/benefit analysis,
return to work program.
Traffic Safety and Auto Engineering - crash prevention, traffic safety and
education, injury prevention/reduction, automobile safety and design, crash
dynamics and injury exposure.
Diagnosis and Treatment - early intervention and long term management,
evaluation of diagnosis and treatment including pharmaceutical and other
medical interventions, physical therapies, manipulation, treatment
modalities, exercise and interdisciplinary approaches, prognostic and
predictors of long term outcomes, prevention of chronicity."
