This is the release version but it is an upgrade and will only work if you
have IE 4.0 and Outlook 97 previously installed. The downloading procedure
runs a Java program which decides what components should be downloaded. In
my case only 16MB as previously upgraded from IE 4.0 to 4.1 (itself an 8MB
download). If you had IE 4.0 and Outlook 97 the download would be approx
24MB.
The full version will be available retail at £90 and as a big download 32MB
and will be useful for multiple installation into PCs with and without IE
and Outlook 97/Exchange-Schedule.
I have installed it at work on 5 machines... first upgrade to Outlook 97 (a
temporary unlicensed installation), then install IE 4.0 available on
magazine free CD, then upgrade MS Office OSR 1 (upgrade available on
magazine CD) and then run the Outlook 98 setup (containing IE 4.1 upgrade
and Outlook 98 upgrade) which is saved on the original downloading PCs hard
disk in case of future reinstallation. It can be done over a network. It may
sound complicated but good to get something free from Microsoft for a
change!

Er....does this mean that the version (so called final version) of Outlook
98 on the MS WWW site at the moment is not in fact the FINAL version???
Thanks
Shaun
Outlook 98 will let you share your .pst, there will be a ftp site at
Microsoft where you will be able to down load the full 98 soon.
keep your eyes on this site ftp.microsoft.com/products/outlook98 it will be
aprox 100 Mb zipped.
