Why should the request for a repeat have to go to the surgery?
Surely if the prescription is down on your computer as a repeat, then you
have already authorised it. So how about, patient contacts pharmacy, which
interrogates your computer, if repeat is authorised then pharmacy dispenses
prescription.
If there was a computer system in place that could do this,I would have no
problems with such an approach as it would entail a better service all
round.
It does though very much limit pharmacy to its tradition supply function.
Given more information, pharmacy could have a greater role.<
I agree entirely. I can see the day when patients with the 'routine'
problems (eg cough, sore throat etc) should consider the pharmacist as
their first port of call.
