I believe that the Level 3 and Level 4 PCGs will have a proper financial
unit, probably headed up by a Director of Finance, to oversee payments and
monitor budgets.In other words,something similar to what the Health
Authorities have in place. I would imagine that the amount of work
currently undertaken by fundholders at a Practice level(contracting,budget
monitoring etc) will be centralised, leaving Practices to essentially input
data (for example relating to hospital activity).The PCG to all intents
essentially becomes a mini Health Authority.
