I never said anything about not being accountable.
Neither have I said anything about not spending public money wisely.
Why do you think I under-spend my drug budget or have such a high
generic prescribing rate?
How many times have you tried to say to your patients "it is public
money, it is your money"; and what was their response?
The deep sense of public service in me goes back generations. I'll
never, ever, abandon my good custodianship of public resources.
The desire to practise medicine without interference, manipulation or
coercion does not mean I want to be irresponsible, does it?
