My father had his first THR last year and his second 10 days ago. He
felt lousy afterwards - a locum GP at his surgery sent some bloods
including LFTs.
My father thought this chap was wonderful for being so astute and
diagnosing his abnormal liver - raised alk phos and GGT - he was
subjected to enormous anxt as the ultrasound was awaited and then the
results - normal of course - and gradually all bloods fell to normal.
I think it must have been the fact that someone had taken a circular saw
to his bone that raised his alk phos and possibly the anaesthetic that
pushed his GGT up - his GGT has risen again following the second op - I
don't know about his alk phos though - I guess they rather sensibly
haven't checked.
He still feels like death warmed up thought after the second op - and
the anaesthetist treated him really gently and kindly this time.
I'll ask him how his guts are!
Cheers.
