<<South of the border the ICGP has made great strides over the last 4 - 6
years >>
Well, once upon a time I suggested to a few of the great and good of N
Irish GP and PG education that the ICGP system of GP tutors might be worth
looking at. Didn't get reponse....
What I would do if I got a chance! I would copy some of the ICGP ideas for
starters, doing it at faculty level. The ICGP had one big advantage over
us----they were much less self-conscious (if that is the right word) of
their status relative to the Royal Colleges of Physicians and of Surgeons
(London) so they got on with the job of doing what they felt was important
for GP, not holding massive ceremonies in Princes Gate.
I won't go on now because I have posted enough for one day but I do believe
that at faculty level the RCGP could make a difference and could make
itself very relevant and important to frontlline GPs if it could only focus
on the essentials.
