Opera (full tryout on the cover disk of today's PCW magazine, but
why worry when the full download is only a little over a megabyte
from www.operasoftware.com/ ) is quick, probably more so than IE3/4
or NS on hardware from 386 upward
And doesn't seem to have interfered with my setup at all.
It keeps its few files (amounting to about 1.9MByte unzipped) in its
own directory, except the opera.ini file and any alternate .ini
files for special tasks you define, which go in \windows (unless you
tell it on the command line to look elsewhere)
I like it so much I bought a copy.
I still use the older version on the laptop for local access (once
the generous tryut period expires it refuses to connect to any
internet site except it's home (where you can register it<g>) but
cheerfully allows access to your local files. And the older vrsion
is as often, quicker to load and simpler for that purpose.
Uses Netscape compatible plugins
