This sounds rather worrying as I have had a leaflet next to my bed for some
time which is from the RCGP & BMA and says:
'Prolonged study leave is not just for courses and research..possible to
enhance clinical management, clinical and teaching skills.'
there have even been successful applications for...VSO provided a proven
benefit to the NHS.'
''The NHS executive indicated that 80-90% applications are accepted Indeed
there was surprise that so few applications were received"
'The study leave does not have to be strictly of a medical nature'
Arrangements vary from region to region..some regional advisors have
autonomy in recommending an applicant for prolonged study leave'
I'm happy to send/fax the whole thing to you or your colleague if you would
like.
