When the SL went to prep school, which was a very long time ago, it was
'Caesar adsum jam forte, Pompey aderat.' None of this 'iam' business to
confuse the issue, and 'aderat' is certainly a genuine verb form, while I'm
not so sure about 'adorat' though it sounds good/possible.
