Oh, I don't know...
Given that over 50% of the world's population have never dialed a
telephone (let alone own one), I would've thought the radio (specially
when you only need hand pumping to get it working) is an excellent mode
of collecting information.
For example, there is just under one million people in the whole of
Africa who have some sort of Internet access. 800,000 of them are in
South Africa, 100,000 in Egypt and the rest are scattered all over the
place with some countries having a few dozen connections!
Then again, who cares? ;-)
