Can I put a slightly different point of view? I view this year's OOH
experience as a SUCCESS!

Our local co-op carefully planned for the extra workload that we knew
was ahead by arranging extra shifts, vehicles and operators based on our
experience of Xmas's past. We also used this Xmas as a trial run for the
Millenium (which has a holiday split of 4/4 days rather than this year's
4/3). The demand rose about 5 fold and we were very busy at times, but still
answered all our calls within our target times when our neighbouring co-ops
all cracked and fell over.
Inevitably there were the abuser's of the system who won't, don't or
can't cooperate with us to make things easier but they will always be with
us and you just have to shrug it off and get on with it. Overall, the team
spirit amongst the co-op members was very good and that is what I'll
remember - a sense of a good job well done in difficult circumstances and I
still had time off to enjoy my Xmas!
