I have a Teac 6 disc auto-changer (CD-C68) with IDE interface card
fitted in my workstation. It's some 18 months old and therefore not
very fast (8x) but is cheap - SMC are advertising it @ 65UKP + VAT
As a means of providing on line access at one workstation to a number of
CD's its fine. If your wanting to use the auto changer to provide on
line access to a number of networked computers its not. Someone
inevitably makes a call on a different CD than the one I'm currently
using and the connection to 'my' CD is lost. Until the next time I
request a read from it then the focus changes and the other networked
user is inconvenienced.
However if it's a single user workstation then a simple unit such as the
Teac should suffice.
