A local cable company in this area appears to have this in place already.
All lines from our Co-op have their number withheld. Any call made by the
co-op which is met with this response is logged, and we then wait until the
caller rings us back again. We then explain to them that we do not allow
our numbers to be recorded because we do not want our outgoing numbers
blocked by patients calling in, and because we do not always have a doctor
available to talk them immediately, they will either have to re-set the ACR,
or they will have to call again shortly (we also repeat the offer of a
consultation at our PCC instead!). If they don't want to receive calls from
someone who has a valid reason for with-holding their number, on their heads
be it!
