Among references I had in mind, I would include the local hospital's
telephone directory, I think eBNF has established itself as a value-added
service compared to the paper one, supposing that Ian's paraplegic had been
dealt with by the Urologist who catheterised him having put a _plan_ into
his hospital notes (plans go into the shareable folder of them of course)
which included the idea that in case of trouble he would be readmitted...and
was accessible to GP and RSO?
It was taken rather as references about medicine to be looked at in real
time, but leaving aside the surreal feeling one gets toward the end of a
stint on call, I think it is as valid to think of an extension to one's
library access being provided so that one can tackle any _interesting_
thoughts/questions that one comes up with around completed consultations.
Assuming, as I feel entitled to do, that a proportion of colleagues would
wish to have some facility available, and that in a proportion of
consultations a proportion of doctors would use some reference sometimes...
...any numbers to fill in to make a case for when it
is sensible to do it; how much would be a reasonable amount to contemplate
spending on such?
